APPLES AND ORANGES

Here we are almost one year into the health care debate and everyone is still confusing the issue of what makes up insurance coverage.  Too many of our astute Harvard graduates have kept the waters muddied just to propel their agenda into acceptance by the voting public.

Insurance is a company taking a risk with the premium, we pay them that nothing catastrophic will happen to one of us, i.e. car, boat, house or life or health.  Insurance is totally different from health care coverage, where somebody takes your money and pools it with others and pays for all the non-catastrophic health care like a sniffle or a sneeze or bug bite or an aspirin.  Somewhere along the line somebody has mis-educated the masses to believe that every little symptom should be paid for other than themselves.  This mentality has caused the abuse of the system, and now no one can take care of themselves if they have a common cold, or their kid falls and scrapes their knees.

The politicians and the media are to blame for all this disinformation.  The politicians to advance their agenda, will mishandle the English language.  I am afraid the media does it, because they believe the politicians.

So here we are at an impasse to the debate over health care.  It isn’t a question of receiving health care and we all know that.  The debate is over who is going to pay and how it will be paid for and who is going to get it paid for.  We are not talking about “insurance” we are talking about paying for doctor’s visits, bandages, nasal spray and aspirin.  We are now paying for all this who pay their own way out of their own pocket, those who only carry catastrophic coverage-you know the kind that will take care a person if they contract cancer or have a heart attack or something out of the normal course of everyday living-those who pay for exams, x-rays or blood tests or office visits just as a preventive measure.  Everybody seems to think it is going to be free if the government gets their hands on it.

THE SOLUTION TO THE HEALTH CARE ISSUE IS TO ELIMINATE ALL HEALTH CARE OTHER THAN CATASTROPHIC COVERAGE.  LET EVERYONE PAY FOR THEIR CARE, AND GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES.  ALL THOSE EXOTICS CALLED CADILAC PLANS WILL BE ELIMINATED, AND IF YOU CAN AFFORD A PREMIUM OF $25,000/ YEAR, YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET.

We are now going to have the debate re-opened, sure.  It will still be the Presidents-my way or the highway-he can’t really surrender his Progressive ideology, they know best, and we had better just take it.
